Happy New Year!

I'm extremely happy with what I've been able to accomplish over the past year, and I plan to keep moving forward with the same passion and momentum. And I hope you all soar through and take on the New Year as well! >:)

I went to the grocery store to help my Dad with holiday grocery shopping last week. One of the employees thought he was being all smooth and observant, but he couldn't have been more hilariously further from the truth.

"YOU must be a nurse, or a doctor, am I right?"

Sometimes it's really cold in the studio in the mornings, before the heat really gets going. So I bundle up like I'm working in the snow.

Inktober Post #1

Since I'm terrible at the internet, I don't manage to regularly post anything I draw. So here are a couple of Inktober sketches I've done so far! Instead of one a day I'll just post a bunch every few days hehehe. I'm trying to get the hang of using ink. Hopefully I'll see some progress throughout the month :)
Note to self: Stop being lazy and scan my drawings into the computer, instead of taking them under crappy light conditions with my iPhone.

The Gedigks are good at directions

A few months ago my siblings and I were supposed to meet our mom at Lincoln Center for a classical concert. We got out of the subway and tried to figure out which direction to go from there, not realizing that Lincoln Center was literally right behind us. We are a coordinated bunch.

"Flip flops are terrible!"

"You can't even run away from the bad guys!" -my concerned Mom.

I promise, Mom, as soon as I see those bad guys, I will ditch those flips flops in a second.

I got thissss

Sometimes if I feel like I'm facing something really daunting or overwhelming I pretend I have a dragon companion at my back, helping me get through whatever it is I need to face. Then I instantly feel like I can do anything.

I should exercise more often....

......or you know, at all. And no, moving a pencil or Cintiq pen around all day doesn't count.

Slow Monday afternoon

Slow day at work today, so I just doodled my sleepy feelings away. I mean let's be real, being a dog would be pretty great. Except for the fact I couldn't eat chocolate......yeah actually that'd be a pretty big problem for me. 

Galloping out of graduation

Graduated from NYU yesterday, and I'm feeling pretty awesome about it. While I am feeling a healthy dose of anxiety about the future, I'm very much looking forward to all the things I want to do. So this is a horse, galloping into the future.


Also paying tribute to my beginnings, the horse design is very much influenced by the movie that got it all started for me, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

Owl Studies

Hyena for the last day of classes

Just had my last day of college classes. Forever. I'm done. So here's a drawing of a hyena, looking forward to the future.

Pitched my final story sequence for "The Little Matchgirl" today. I think it went over really well! It feels really good to have come so far in terms of my storytelling/storyboarding skills, and my overall drawing ability. A friend came up to me today and said that my drawings have improved so much that they look like they come from an entirely different person, in her eyes. I'm feeling pretty awesome about that. Imagine that, progress. Aaaaaand now back to work! 

Snow Leopard

Went sketching for the first time this season at Central Park Zoo today....and the weather was PERFECT! So beautiful and brisk out, and the sun was shining :D This was the first time I got to see the snow leopard there up close and personal. So regal and elegant! Trying to experiment with the brush pen and watercolors more. This is a study I did after the zoo, and going through all my gesture drawings.

FACES

I don't know how to draw facesssssss. Trying to figure out how to draw individuals with character and personality, and not just generic faces. Trying to keep it simple, yet lively, as well. Working on line quality too. And caricature. SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT.
